Abstrak

Acara Pro-life yang diadakan Student for Life berubah ricuh. Fenomena ini dapat dikaitkan dengan terjadinya strategi ketidaksopanan negatif yang menyerang keinginan negatif seseorang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi dan fungsi ketidaksopanan negatif dalam peristiwa tersebut. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan teknik observasi dan non partisipatif dalam pengumpulan datanya. Data dianalisis mengunakan teori Culpeper (1996, 2011) untuk mengetahui strategi ketidaksopanan negatif dan fungsinya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat strategi ketidaksopanan negatif yang dilakukan oleh khalayak pro-choice untuk menakut-nakuti, merendahkan, mengejek, mencemooh, menyerang, mengasosiasikan secara eksplisit dengan aspek negatif, dan menghalangi pembicara dan anggota pro-kehidupan, yang berfungsi sebagai koersif dan afektif. ketidaksopanan, akibatnya membuat acara menjadi kacau. Mereka tahu dan mampu bersikap sopan, namun memutuskan untuk tidak melakukannya. Terlepas dari argumen tersebut, kedua belah pihak seharusnya bersikap profesional dan dewasa.
